The Dream May Be Over!

In May of this year, we took the bike to a local mechanic who said he could fix the timing chain for us with no problem. If we could give him a few weeks due to his busy schedule then he would give us a break on the costs.

Since June, we were given excuses as to why the bike was not ready and when we would go by the shop it was always dark. This past weekend after threatening police and legal action the mechanic left a voice mail claiming he had problems in his shop and would get back to us. On a hunch Friday evening we drove to the shop and low and behold we found our bike all apart in a junk heap in the back with some other junked bikes. We immediately gathered up what was left of our bike and loaded it on the trailer. It appears the mechanic we left it with striped it down and left it outside with the engine split for the last four months.

The police tell us they can not help that it is a civil matter and apparently this guy has left the area and it looks like it will be next to impossible to find him so we are out of luck. The bike was in good condition and functioning when we left it with the mechanic. Now we are told it will cost at least $1,500 or more to try and repair the bike and that is if a mechanic can get the missing parts off of ebay.

After several years of hardship things were finally starting to look up for us and now this set back. The bike was a restored 1984 Honda 200ES Atv. If anyone knows of someone in the Upstate New York area who would be willing to help us repair the bike we would be grateful.

Photos of the bike as we recovered it from behind the mechanics shop on Friday night are below.
